School Re-organisation
Communication with parents.
As we continue to improve the learning in the school and the outcomes for our young children, we are also preparing for some big changes that are due to take place in the very near future. This section of our web site is designed to help provide you with the latest up to date information and as a consequence answer any questions as well as ease any worries and anxieties that you may have. Every term we have two evening sessions from 5:30 – 6:30pm and two coffee mornings from 9:15 – 10:15am dedicated to sharing the latest news about school re-organisation so that you are fully up to speed with what is happening and what we as a school are doing to prepare for it. (The dates for these meetings can be seen below and will be updated every term) Following each meeting I will produce an outline of the main points and this will be in three parts.
1. Changes and updates from the Local Authority
2. Plans and preparations being made by the school
3. Preparing the school for 21st century learning
As you know re-organisation is happening and as a result the middle schools system on the island will be phased out leaving just Primary Schools (4-11years) and High schools (11 – 16/18 years) The change will be phased in over the next two years. What this means for Nine Acres is as follows.
September 2010.
Our admissions number will be reduced from 81 children to 60. This means that we will not be able to accept any more than 60 children in to our new Reception classes. This admission number will remain like this every year. (We will not have more than two classes in Reception.)
Our Y4 children remain with us for Y5 and DO NOT move on to middle school.
September 2011.
Our children at the end of Y5 remain with us where they will become Y6 children. This means that for the first time we will have children in the school from Reception through the Y6.
September 2012
Our Y6 children will leave to attend High school. Middle schools will be closed.
21st century learning
Alongside re-organisation we are looking to develop Nine Acres in to a school fit for learning in the 21st century. What this means is that we want to develop our current building so that we can organise the learning in the way that we would like to by having bigger and better learning spaces and more use of technology to help prepare our children for the transition in to High school as well as life in a technological world. We feel that we can do this by making moré effective use of the spaces that we already have alongside some minor internal modifications. This development will set the footprint for the school for the future and will allow us to move towards our vision of being the best school in the world. For more detail on all of this come along to the informal meetings taking place on the following dates
