Alexandra Infants School has a separate Governing Body to the Junior School, and this includes members appointed by the local education authority, co-opted members, parents and teachers.
Governors have a general responsibility for the effective management of the school, acting within the framework set by national legislation and by policies set by the local education authority and school. Governors determine the aims for the school and the curriculum policy in accordance with the requirements of the National Curriculum. Other responsibilities include making decisions about the school’s budget, appointment of some staff, use of the school buildings, timing of the school day, admissions and sex education policy, as well as other duties.
