Chaddesley Corbett Endowed Primary School is a 1-form entry primary school that caters for children from 4 to 11 years of age with 30 children in each class. Children start school in the academic year that they are 5 years of age. This is an exciting time in our development, as we will be moving to a newly built school on a new site at the edge of the village during the next term. This will provide enhanced facilities and grounds in which to further develop our curriculum. In our recent Ofsted Inspection we were judged to be a 'Good' school and the inspectors confirmed that our provision in the Early Years is 'Outstanding'.
We believe in using a creative approach to the curriculum, within which the basic skills of reading, writing, mathematics and ICT are intergrated. This approach engages the children and staff in a motivating learning journey in which children are asked to make decisions about their learning that develops the skills necessary to become successful, independent learners and responsible caring citizens. "Pupils talk enthusiastically about their learning because they enjoy the varied range of curriculum themes through which they learn." - Ofsted 2011
When advisors from the 'National Strategies' visited our school in December 2010 to look at good practice in developing writing, they commented that: "Talk for Learning is clearly embedded" and that through the school's approach and focus on progression, "Children in Year 6 are writing as experts, because they are living inside the text."
Places are available in some of the year groups. We welcome visits by parents who are interested in taking up places in any of our year groups.
Some comments from parents when their child enters Reception are:
“… loves school and enjoys feeling more grown up. … He loves his new teachers and classroom.”
“… excited about the books to bring home, hot dinners and the animal lady."
“We are so pleased that ….. has settled into school. She has flourished since starting and we are very grateful.”
We offer a wide range of different experiences and facilities that add an extra dimension to our children's education.
Details of extra-curricular clubs can be seen via our Clubs link at the top of the page.
We are fortunate to have our own heated swimming pool in which all children swim throughout the year. This is a fantastic facility which many schools are unable to provide.
Platform 4 3/4 is a wrap-around care facility that enables you to pick them up later than the end of the school day. Children are well catered for and healthy snacks are provided by arrangement.
Children at Chaddesley Corbett can expect variety. We have high expectations and set high standards, but we also place a great emphasis on creativity and enjoyment. Part of what we mean by ‘a rich and balanced curriculum’ is that children learn how to use their skills to be creative, and we encourage our children to take a lead in directing their own learning experiences.
