The Government says
that school Councils are important although they aren’t compulsory as they are
in countries such as Ireland, Germany, Spain and Sweden. Our school has a
School Council as there are often things that children notice that adults
aren’t aware of. Our school Council is a representative group of pupils who
have been elected by their peers. Two pupils represent each year group and the
Council is re-elected each September. The school council meets regularly with
the headteacher to discuss a whole range of issues. These have included school
lunches, behaviour, fundraising etc. Members of the School Council are
responsible for seeking the views of peers and carrying out the agreed actions. Our Council is effective because:
·
Regular
meetings are held
·
The group
isn’t too big
·
There is
good communication between the Council and their class.
