At St John’s School we aim:
-
To promote equality by providing opportunities to young people of both sexes and by avoiding stereotypes.
-
To promote positive attitudes to cultural diversity, gender equality and people with special needs or gifts.
-
To encourage boys and girls to respect themselves, each other and the contribution each can make to the life of our school. |
 |
-
To develop in each child a curiosity, an enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
-
To eliminate discrimination.
-
To enable each child to develop his/her own academic potential.
-
To help each child to become an independent, caring and responsible person.
- To promote each child’s self esteem and sense of self worth.
-
To provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment.
|
 |
In order to achieve this, we aim through our curriculum to develop skills and attitudes which encourage in children a desire to learn and an ability to live and work co-operatively within the community by:
-
Encouraging Partnership with Parents.
-
Developing knowledge, understanding and enjoyment in all areas of mathematics.
-
Ensuring that every child has a command of the English language, having the ability to develop the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
-
Teaching the skills of observation, enquiry, interpretation, prediction and knowledge necessary for the development of scientific discovery and understanding.
-
Allowing children the opportunity to make informed decisions and to take some responsibility for their own learning.
-
Giving children access to a variety of athletic and physical skills.
-
Developing moral and spiritual values which enable children to have respect for themselves and others.
-
Teaching an awareness of, and respect for the community with its rich cultural diversity.
