New Year

I would like to wish all parents a Happy New Year for 2012 and hope you had a restful and enjoyable Christmas.  As the weather becomes colder I would like to remind parents that if it should snow local radio will be informed of school closure and it will also be reported on our website.

Please ensure your child wears gloves and warm clothing to school as the playground can be very cold, especially when the children are out for a longer period at lunchtime.

I would also like to remind parents of the importance of hearing their children read. Once your child is able to decode words successfully it is essential to discuss characters and plot. Even year 6 children need to think about why characters behave in the way they do and how the story is developing if they are to tackle their higher order reading skills. The best way to do this is to discuss their reading with an adult.

Garden working party

Now that most of the building work has been completed some of the children have been choosing items they would like in the garden area. In order to make it ready for them it would be helpful if a few parents could come and help weed the area. It should not take long and if you have some spare time please will you let the office know so we can arrange a time.

Parent survey

Now that the building work is completed a survey will be coming home next week to look into how the building is working for parents. This will enable us to improve areas causing problems and to retain areas that are successful. The children will also complete a survey in school. Please complete and return to school as soon as possible. Thank you for your co-operation with this.
