Cambridge National Certificate
Level 2
This level 2 course could be equal to a GCSE at grades A, B or C.
One unit is examined, and the remaining three are portfolio units.
The work will be taught in the classroom and this, alongside work experience, will be used to help students create portfolios to be moderated by an external assessor.
The two compulsory units are:
  • Essential values of care for use with individuals in care settings (External Examination)
  • Communicating and working with individuals in health, social and early years settings
The remaining two units will be selected from:
  • Understanding body systems
  • Pathways for providing care in health, social care and early years settings
  • Understanding life stages
  • Planning for employment in health, social care and children and young people's workforce
  • creative activities to support individuals in health, social care and early years settings
  • Understanding the development and protection of children in early years' settings
  • Understanding the nutrients needed for good health
  • Using basic first aid procedures
Students are requested to select a work experience placement in one of the sectors to provide underpinning knowledge to support their studies.
