Welcome to the

Stroud High 'Chicks' Zone

Designed with the help of Year 7 students, especially for you!

Welcome to your new school!

We hope that over the coming weeks and months friendships can be forged between our existing Year 7 students and you 'soon to be Year 7 students' - for the moment known as the Stroud High 'Chicks'! This is also a great opportunity to get to know other girls coming to the school at the same time as you - your friendships start here!!

Our lifestyles, families and attitudes will have many things

in common, for example:

Treating each other with respect and tolerance
Love of our family and friends
Pride in our own and each others' achievements
Support for each other when things are not going so well
Fun and learning

Many aspects of our school lives may be very different

from each others, for example:

The size of the school you are coming from
Your school uniform
The size of classes in your present school
Times of the school day and lessons
Lunchtimes and the food available
Activities you are involved in, such as dance, sport, music, drama etc.

We are all very excited about your arrival at Stroud High School and hope that this zone, created especially for you, will help you to make new friends before you start in September. We also hope that it will give you an opportunity to speak to the 'experts' - our present Year 7s who are completing their first year with us and who will be happy to answer any of your questions through the forums in the menu on the left!

We really hope you enjoy becoming part of our school!

Read on to discover how you can talk to other Stroud High 'Chicks', as well as existing Year 7 students via a 'forum', which is like a messageboard that you can post messages on for others to read and respond to:

Before you can take part in a forum you must log in - if you are a Stroud High 'Chick' you will either be given your user name and password when you are visited in your primary school, or it will be posted to you at home.

Because the forum is controlled by Stroud High School and you need a login and password to access it, it is a safe place to 'talk' to people as only the 'Chicks' (and their parents/carers), Year 7 students and teachers at Stroud High can see what you are posting.

Remember! you should never give personal information when you use a normal online chatroom or messageboard as anyone could see it - the 'Chicks' forums are safe and secure as they are controlled by us and need a login and password to access them!

In the left hand menu you will see links to several forums - one is called the 'Introducing Stroud High Chicks' - click on that link and follow the instructions shown to introduce yourself to each other.

Click on the FAQs link in the menu to see Frequently Asked Questions and see the 'Any Questions' forum to ask any questions you can't find an answer to!

You will see that there is even one for your parents to take part in called 'Parent to Parent'!

You can add a new topic for discussion to a forum by clicking on 'Add Topic' at the top of the screen

You can respond to someone else's topic by opening it up (click on the topic name) and then clicking on 'Add a Post'

I have added one about my school days to the 'Introducing Stroud High Chicks' forum - just to get you started!
