Reporting a Fault

In many cases you can solve simple problems: please try BEFORE calling a technician.

  

There are crib sheet pages in the top left menu and in each IT suite. (You will need to LOG ON to see the crib sheets)

All faults must be reported, if it is not reported then we can not deal with them.

Emergency: (Class cannot procede and you have tried to resolve problem) Telephone: Dawn Howell on 5693.

Report all faults other than emergencies by email to Dawn.Howell OR write them onto the fault log sheet which should be near staff machine in IT suites. (Checked every day)
 
When reporting a fault, please help us to help you. Please;
  • Provide the username of the user experiencing the problem
  • Provide as much detail of the problem as possible, including any error messages
  • If the problem experienced is with a particular piece of software, provide details of when the problem happens – i.e. when you cut & paste a picture - and with which piece of software.
  • Provide the room number and the station number (which is found on the top of the computer)
  • Provide a contact name, so that we can follow up the call if necessary

Purchase of new software: before doing anything consult Sarah Rogers to see if it will run on the network.  Contact Martin Brown for confirmation to go ahead and possible support re funding through E Credits.

Classroom Management
Many problems can be avoided: do not let students into an IT room, or leave them in a room, without a teacher present. Always check each station with student at end of lesson before dismissal.
