We aim to give each student a first class scientific base for their future progress, reflecting the academic nature of our School. During Science lessons students enjoy a steady progression through the National Curriculum Programmes of Study leading to a complete development of their scientific knowledge and understanding. They are constantly encouraged to explore the world around them in a spirit of enquiry and investigation.
We are unusual amongst many local schools in that all our pupils experience the excitement of Biology, Chemistry and Physics with subject specialist teachers at GCSE.
All students in Years Ten currently follow the same GCSE Science course. Those in Year Eleven either follow Applied or Additional Science GCSE courses which offer all students a full appreciation of the subject and its role in today's society. At Advanced Level; Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught separately. Full details of these popular options are given in the Sixth Form Prospectus.
Many students leave the School to study Science and related degrees at university and go on to enter research-based careers.
