In addition to vocabulary learning and word recognition, many elements of the learning objectives for languages reinforce the curriculum content in Citizenship, Literacy, Mathematics, P.E. and Humanities. French could be taught through these subjects especially.   Further to this, the spoken aspect of the subject will boost confidence and self-esteem. Students are encouraged to be increasingly independent in their work. They are encouraged to use resources including the Internet, previous work and their peers for solutions to answers.

The Discovery Project Penfriend Link and the Clermond Twinning Link with France provides authentic contact with French children of similar ages and interests. These initiatives are of particular benefit to Gifted and Talented pupils who have the opportunity to extend their French reading and writing levels as well as speaking and listening. However the Penfriend Scheme is open to all motivated pupils and also demonstrates the inclusion of pupils who need particular help with their literacy skills.
