ASDAN creates the opportunity for learners to achieve personal and social development through the achievement of ASDAN Awards and Qualifications, enhancing self-esteem, aspirations and individual contribution to local, national and global communities.

ASDAN is not taught in Years 7 and 8.
Key Stage 4 (KS4)
CERTIFICATE OF PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
The Personal and Social Development Qualification (PSD) offers imaginative ways of supporting young people in
- Becoming confident individuals who are physically, emotionally and socially healthy
- Being responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society and embrace change
- Managing risk together with their own wellbeing as well as introducing them to new activities and personal challenges.

CERTIFICATE OF PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS
Students undertake challenges in the following areas
- Communication
- Independent Living
- Vocational Preparation
- Health and Fitness
- Work Related Learning and Enterprise
- International Links
Students need to complete credits by completing challenges from the modules, providing portfolio evidence of completion of all the activities undertaken.
Students need to demonstrate competence in the wider key skills of Working with Others, Improving Own Learning and Performance and Problem Solving at level 2.
Students need to demonstrate competence in the units Planning and carrying out research, Communicating through Discussion and Planning and giving an oral presentation at level 2.
