The History of Medicine unit covers the historical development of medience from prehistoric times to the present day. Topics are taught chronologically: prehistoric, ancient Egyptian, ancient Greek, ancient Roman, medieval, renaissance, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Each topic is divided into major themes: causes, cures, surgery and public health. The work of key individuals is also covered: Hippocrates, Galen, Vesalius, Pasteur, etc.
