One of the most significant developments at Claverham in recent years has been the addition of a range of vocational courses to our Key Stage 4 curriculum. These courses place an emphasis on coursework and allow pupils to demonstrate a wide range of skills without the pressure of a 'final' examination.
Some interesting statistics about vocational courses....
- Students who have a BTEC Level 2 qualification and 5 good GCSEs increase their lifetime earning potential by 5.9%, compared to those who have just 5 or more GCSEs.
- Over 100,000 BTEC students successfully progressed to higher education in 2010.
- BTEC courses help students do better in their GCSEs. Over 60% of BTEC learners also achieve 5 A*-C GCSEs.
