Who are Brighton & Hove Early Years Team?
The Early Years Consultants in Brighton & Hove are experienced teachers who work to support quality in the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage in Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) settings and schools.
They run training, both at venues such as the Jubilee Library and in-house, support the locally-devised Quality Improvement Programme Quality in Learning and Teaching (QuILT) and provide targeted support as required.
They work closely with other professionals and services such as the Early Years Development Officers, the Childcare Workforce Development Team, the Ethnic Minority Achievement Service, the Pre-school Special Educational Needs Service and the Childminders Network.
The team is involved with many varied aspects of work relating to quality in the EYFS, such as organising visits to exemplar settings, providing support in PVI settings for pre-school Personal Education Plans for Children in Care and offering support to Newly Qualified Teachers in Nursery and Reception classes.
The team has links with the University of Brighton, in particular with the accreditation and support for Early Years Professionals.
The team have expertise in many aspects of the EYFS, including early literacy, the characteristics of effective learning, promoting positive behaviour, supporting gifted and talented children and supporting children’s wellbeing.
The team lead the moderation for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile at the end of the Reception year.
