New Futures was set up 10 years ago with funding from Barclays Bank.
Each year the three trust schools (Charters, The Emmbrook and Maiden Erlegh) have taken six Year 12 pupils from each school and eighteen pupils from Addington special school to Tirabad. The object of the course is to allow the Addington pupils to experience Outdoor activities and to interact and socialise with the pupils from the trust schools.
The Year 12 pupils are responsible for deciding which activities take place for the evening entertainment and also how to raise money for the course. They do this by having regular meetings in the two terms leading up to the trip, where they run the meetings and give the staff from the schools their ideas. The Addington staff also attend the last meeting. |
