RECYCLING at SOLENT
We try to be 'environmentally friendly' at Solent and encourage everyone, staff and pupils, to think 'green' by recycling as many of our waste items as possible.

Within school we compost our own garden waste, teabags and fruit peel and now also have the facility to recycle all our waste paper, card, packaging and boxes.

In some instances our recycling actually raises money to improve the environment or help people in less fortunate situations.

We recycle CLOTHING and SHOES for the Salvation Army to help people in our own city.

We collect plastic MILK BOTTLE TOPS for the redevelopment of
St Andrews Community Hall. Please note we can ONLY recycle plastic milk bottle tops not other plastic tops.

We collect  PRINTER CARTRIDGES for Naomi House Hospice to raise money for Jack's Place.

We recycle MOBILE PHONES and CHARGERS for the RNLI

This term we are recycling
SILVER FOIL for the
Christchurch Roof Appeal.

We recycle POSTAGE STAMPS for Naomi House Hospice to raise money for Jack's Place.

We recycle SPECTACLES for the Sight Savers Appeal. This charity sends our unwanted spectacles to people in third world countries.

Shine Week - July 2009
During Shine Week 60 children helped to 'recycle' material samples to create several patchwork mats. The mats will be used in the outdoor classroom. The children who attend Sewing Club are using the small material samples to make patchwork cushions, also for use in the outdoor classroom.
