We were absolutely delighted to receive our Healthy Schools Award after a lot of hard work by children and adults alike. We were really pleased to be awarded the Healthy Schools Enhanced Status which was a real feather in our cap.
The ceremony for this was in January and we attended it along with 50 or so other Hamsphire schools, many of them primary schools. It made us all proud to be there on behalf of the school community to showcase all our efforts. Well done to everyone!

One of our key focus areas last year was to gain Healthy Schools status.

The Healthy Schools scheme is a scheme based on health and education partnerships across the region. Its aim is to provide support for school improvement through establishing a Healthy School climate in which improved health and well-being is reflected in raised educational standards. Guidance from the National Healthy School Standard (NHSS) 2005 emphasises this important link between health and school improvement:

"A Healthy School promotes the health and well-being of its pupils and staff through a well-planned, taught curriculum in a physical and emotional environment that promotes learning and healthy lifestyle choices."

We already follow many of the key principles of healthy schools, but recognise that there are areas we can improve upon. By involving all of the school community in our work we aim to ensure that we can demonstrate measurable improvements in both health and education both in school and in the wider community.
