In order to support students with time management, this is the schedule we suggest they use to complete tasks which have been set. In many cases students will be involved in completing an extended piece of work which will be on-going and so this does not represent when the work is to be set.  The student’s planner will provide a definitive guide as to when the work must be completed. In Year 8, preparation for the Key Stage 3 tests will also have an impact on the schedule and, at times when Home Study is quiet, should be the student's priority. Drama, Music, PSE and PE do not appear on the schedule but they may set work as and when appropriate to their subject and the syllabus. As a general rule, students in Year 7 + 8 should spend approximately 1 hour per evening working towards the completion of home study that has been set to that point.

Key Stage 3 home study has now been evaluated and the vision for Home Study formulated. Many of the changes will be coming online between now and the Summer; the process will be complete by September. This is the ‘vision’ for Key Stage 3 Home Study:

·        Home study will be integral to lessons and tasks will be inclusive and meet all needs.

·        Tasks are linked to National Curriculum Assessment criteria with clear targets for improvement.

·        Home study tasks are rationalised and timing is co-ordinated between Curriculum areas.

·        A range of skills are tested (e.g. presentation, revision, essay writing).

·        The vision is understood and applied consistently.
