Wrotham School offers Media Studies at GCSE and A Level to all students who are interested in cinema, computer games, music, magazines, advertising, the radio, the internet, film posters and television.
These are just some of the areas you could study in Media Studies. This is the subject that's all about you and the life that you lead. You will learn about the codes and conventions of these media texts, how to deconstruct them and then analyse them using media terminology. You will also become confident producers of media texts.
To put it more simply, you will learn how and why media texts are made and make some yourselves.
Aims:
It is our belief that Media Studies will help students become effective communicators who strive to achieve academic and personal success. Our mission is to provide a supportive and challenging environment in which students can foster the skills they will need throughout their lives. Media Studies will enable students to explore, analyse and evaluate the world of media with an objective, mature and, above all, informed opinion.
