WELCOME TO OUR SURE START CHILDREN’S CENTRE

Our Sure Start Children’s Centre opened in April 2010. We support families and their children from early pregnancy through their first 5 years of life.

Working in partnership with Midwives, Health Visitors and other health professionals as needed, we are able to support your family’s health and well-being. We host the Baby Clinic twice monthly where you are able to weigh your child and talk to a Health Visitor.

As a Sure Start Children’s Centre, we have our own personal contact at Job Centre Plus. We can help, not only in job searching, but with retraining opportunities or accessing further education.

The Children’s Centre staff are able to support your family in finding the right childcare should you be starting or returning to work. We hold details of all local providers; including schools, pre-schools, nurseries and child minders. We benefit from a purpose-built Centre with its own garden but with access too, to the grounds and resources of Riverside Primary School. This enables us to provide a varied timetable of activities which change periodically to account for the seasons and to the needs of our families.

We positively encourage parents to feedback to us through our newly established Parents’ Forum.

Safeguarding Statement

Riverside Primary School and Sure Start Children’s Centre want your visit to the centre to be as enjoyable as possible.  We want you and your family to feel safe when you visit.  To achieve this aim we have robust safeguarding policies and procedures in place and all staff, volunteers and partner agencies have undergone enhance CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks.

Riverside Children’s Centre is committed to the safer care of children, young people, their families and staff.  This means that everything we do is designed to promote the safety and wellbeing of the children and young people we work with, as well as that of children and young people in general.

We believe that safe care and good practice are best promoted by staff that, after thorough selection processes, are valued, trained, encouraged and appropriately managed and supported in the work that they do.

If you have any concerns or worries about safeguarding please contact the Senior Designated Person for Safeguarding, Mrs Kathryn Frame, Headteacher.
