GREENACRE SCHOOL SPORTS PARTNERSHIP HOSTS QUALIFYING SPORTSHALL
ATHLETICS COMPETITION
On Thursday 26th January 2012, Greenacre School Sports Partnership hosted the qualifying primary school sportshall athletics competition in preparation for the Kent School Games Final. The Kent School Games is part of the national Olympic and Paralympic legacy to encourage all schools to participate in competitive sport. The School Games programme allows every school in the UK to participate in competition at a local, regional and national level with links into community sport.
The event was held at Greenacre School in Walderslade, the organisers saw over 100 year 5 & 6 pupils from primary schools across Medway competing for a chance to qualify for the Kent School Games Finals to be held later on in the year at Canterbury.
The pupils participated in several activities including, Javelin, Speed Bounce, Long Jump, Vertical Jump, Speed Bounce, Sprint and Chest Push throwing. They also had the opportunity to have ago on the rowing machines and xbikes which many of the pupils had not previously experienced.
After every participant competing at every event, the results were as follows:
1st : Lordswood School
2nd : Kingfisher School
3rd : St Thomas More School
Lordswood School will now go through to represent Greenacre School Sports Partnership at the Kent School Games finals later
on in the year.
