English teacher interviewed by Philip.

Q1: Do you think it is true that literacy progress has gone to a standstill since 2005.

A1. I don’t think the grades are at a standstill, but student levels are not as high at entry level as they have been in previous years.  The school is working really hard on improving and raising our student attainment levels

Q2: Do you think it matters that England is dropping places for literacy grades.
A2: yes I think it matters that the grades are dropping because the students won’t get good jobs.
Q3: What grades in year 7 do you expect the children to get on average.
A3: On average I think a year 7 should be getting a grade 4b.
Q4: What part of literacy do the children most struggle on.
A4: The hardest part of literacy for a student on average is to construct a sentence properly.
Q5: Is there a particular year group that struggles on literacy more than others.
A5: No I don’t think there is a year that struggles more than others.
Q6: On average how many children reach the appropriate grade they need.
A6: A majority of students that apply themselves to learning reach the appropriate grade.
