PSHE Education Curriculum Planning Tools

Brighton & Hove has a PSHE Education Programme of Study which provides a suggested curriculum for Key Stages 1-4. In addition, Brighton & Hove City Council in partnership with schools and colleagues in Health and the Community and Voluntary Sector and in line with local and national research and guidance is developing a range of Curriculum Frameworks to support the delivery of this Programme of Study. Schools are encouraged to use these to inform their planning and adapt the learning outcomes to meet the needs of their pupils or students. These are regularly updated to reflect new resources available. These resources are suggested, not recommended; schools will need to ensure resources used reflect the values of the school and needs of students.

The Core Programme provides a recommended minimum entitlement to relationships and sex education and drug, alcohol and tobacco education for all year 9 and 10 students. This has not yet been updated to reflect the new PSHE Education Programme of Study.
