BT Example Park School > PSHE / Citizenship Dept > Personal, Social & Health Education

Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE) is taught throughout the School by teams of teachers. The courses provide opportunities for pupils to know and understand themselves and others, alongside knowledge of the world around them, its social institutions, structures and organisations, together with social and moral issues. Support with study skills, course choices and career guidance, for example, complements curriculum studies and helps develop pupils’ confidence.

Health and Sex Education is an integral part of the School Curriculum in which each pupil is expected to participate without exception. Recent legislation gives individual parents the right to withdraw their child from aspects of Health and Sex Education. No parent has wished to do this to date and we sincerely hope that within the legislative framework such a decision on the part of any parent could be avoided.
