Welcome to the Health & Social Care Homepage
Health and Social Care is offered at the moment only to AS and A2 students, by Mrs Taylor and Mr Spenceley. In general terms, the course is really about LIFE and PEOPLE, but it’s particularly aimed at students who think they would like to work in:
- The caring services (for example social work, youth and community work, probation, housing, counselling or advice work).
- The health services.
- With small children.
The Health & Social Care Curriculum at The RGS
Students follow theOCR specification and are doing the Advanced GCE in Health and Social Care. This consists of 6 units across 2 years, with Units 1, 2 and 3 studied at AS and 3 further units at A2.
The specification has been developed to provide a broad education basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the health and social care sector. The qualification is designed to be delivered in a work-related context and to allow learners to develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the health and social care sector. Learners may apply their learning to any of the following service-user groups:
· Health
· Early years (care and education)
· Care of older people
· Individuals with specific needs
