The benefits of the internet for personal use and learning are enormous.

For example:

People can find each other - relatives they have lost touch with; old friends; sellers can find buyers; people can even find their life partners. You can find out the answer to just about anything by searching.

Sadly with so many millions of people online the dangers are out there too.
Well done for getting this far. Read on to learn about how to get the best out of internet and avoid the dangers.

Would you visit anywhere that could be dangerous without knowing how to look out for yourself?
Would your parents let you go out without teaching you stranger danger?

The obvious answer is a big NO!

Being online can be the same as going into any other space where there are risks.
Do you know what all of these are?

You may be street-wise by knowing what the dangers are, how to avoid them and even how to deal with it if things ever get out of hand.
You can be web-wise too - in just the same way!

There are some great resources online that can help you think about and understand the dangers. Click on the resources on the left to find them!
You may think you know it all but these resources are often made by the people and organisations that deal with online problems of the worst kind all day and every day. They are also aimed at different age groups so will be relevant to you. Why not look at the younger age resources so that you can help younger people you know to be safe. The web has changed since you were their age and new dangers appear all the time.
