Hello and welcome to the Sociology Page
Sociology is an increasingly popular subject at AS/A2 at Exmouth Community College, and results are generally very good - in Summer 2005, 20% of students achieved A grades, 64% of students achieved A-C grades, and all students passed the course, including two who had technically failed the first year but were keen to carry on.
There are a number of reasons for doing Sociology: police work, nursing, teaching, human resources, retailing and marketing are among the many subjects directly linked to Sociology, but you may simply enjoy the idea of taking a critical look at some of the social institutions around you - recently, many students have taken Sociology to broaden their CV rather than for any particular career focus. The Education System and Crime & Deviance form a central focus of much of the course, but something as apparently common sense and simple as family life is shown in the first module to be far more complex than it might seem at first glance.
