Christ the King College > Christ the King > Prayer Page
 The Christian nature of our College permeates all that we do.

The life, people and workings of the college are like a rich tapestry of many colours.
Some colours are vibrant; others are warm; yet others are subtle, while some are pastel shades.
Running through the tapestry are golden threads.
Some threads are bold and delineate; others are more sedate and enhance, while others are so fine that they imbue the very weave of the cloth.
The spiritual dimension to Christ the King College is made of the golden threads that run through its life, its people and its work.

O Living God,
When I am tired and frustrated and despairing,
Distracted by many thoughts,
Eaten up by multiple demands,
And hungry for your peace;
Help me to offer again the five loaves and two fishes that you have given me,
And so discover again the miracle of strength
That comes from sharing everything together
When we believe we have only a little.

Worship Theme:  Summer

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith,

 let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.

 And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.  Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame.

Hebrews 12:1-2

 Father, Creator of all, thank You for summer!
Thank you for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight.
Thank You for the beauty I see all around me and for the opportunity

 to be outside and enjoy Your creation.
Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family,

 and for the more casual pace of the summer season.

Draw me closer to You this summer.
Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing.
Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence and light my path

 with Your Word and Counsel.
As I enjoy Your creation, create in me a pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for You.

Amen.

Worship Theme:  Leaders

For a leader must live a blameless life.

 He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered;

 he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money.

 Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good.

 He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life.

 He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught;

 then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching

 and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.

Titus 1:7 – 9

To those who rule and lead us on earth, you, sovereign Master, have given their authority and kingship – so marvellous that power of yours words fail to express – that seeing the glory and honour You have provided for them, we should be subject to their rule, not resisting your will.

Grant them, Lord, the health, peace, concord and stability to use aright the sovereignty you have bestowed on them.  For you, King of Heaven, you it is that give mortal men glory, honour and power over what is on earth.

Lord, make their counsels conform to what is good and pleasing to you, that using reverence, peacefully, gently, the power you have given them, they may find favour with you.

Clement of Rome

Worship Theme: Our World

 Our World
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world,
but to save the world through him.
There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him.
But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged
for not believing in God‘s one and only Son"
John 3:16-18

O God, we pray for all those in our world who are suffering from injustice:
For those who are discriminated against because of their race, colour or religion;
For those imprisoned for working for the relief of oppression;
For those who are hounded for speaking the inconvenient truth;
For those tempted to violence as a cry against overwhelming hardship;
For those deprived of reasonable health and education;
For those suffering from hunger and famine;
For those too weak to help themselves and who have no one else to help them;
For the unemployed who cry out for work but do not find it.
We pray for anyone of our acquaintance who is personally affected by injustice.
Forgive us, Lord, if we unwittingly share in the conditions or in a system that perpetuates injustice.
Show us how we can serve your children and make your love practical by washing their feet.

Worship Theme:  Courage

 Help for Heroes
Be strong and courageous.
 Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

Father,
I pray for courage as I begin this day, for I understand there is work to be done,
 burdens to be carried, feelings to be shared and joys to be celebrated.
Grant me the courage to be silent that I may hear Thy voice;
 to persevere, that I may share Thy victory;
 and to remember, lest I forget the way by which Thou has led me.
And when this day is done, O Lord,
 may I have the courage to see Thy guiding hand in the friendships that have been made,
 in the hurts that have been healed, and in the strength that has been given.
Amen.
Lord, as all around are gripped with World Cup fever,
bless us with understanding,
strengthen us with patience and
grant us the gift of sympathy if needed.
Amen.

 Worship Theme:  Jesus, Son of Man

Jesus the Son
As my vision continued that night,
I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven.
He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence.
 He was given authority, honour, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world,
 so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him.
 His rule is eternal—it will never end.
 His kingdom will never be destroyed.
Daniel 7:13-14

Lord, we all love holidays.
We can sleep late in the mornings.
We can play games and listen to our favourite music.
We can see friends and relatives whom we haven’t seen for a long time.
For a while we can forget the worries of school and work,
and our tired brains can take a rest.
Lord Jesus, thank you for this time.
But let us remember those who may not be able to rest and play.
Help us not to be selfish at holiday times and to think of how we can help at home.
For your sake,
Amen

Worship Theme:  Christian Aid

God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
Psalm 46:1-3

Christian Aid prayer for emergencies
O God, our refuge and strength,
our help in times of trouble.
Have mercy on the lands where the earth has given way.
Have mercy on the lands where the weather has destroyed livelihoods.
Prosper those who rebuild houses,
and strengthen those who rebuild hope
so that entire communities
may face the future without fear.
Amen

Worship Theme:  Red Cross

Then the King will say to those on His right,
'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance,
the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me s
omething to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I
was in prison and you came to visit me.'
Matthew 25:34-36

Almighty God
Whose son Jesus Christ has taught us that what we do for the least
of our brethren we do also for Him:
give us the will to be the servant of others as He was a servant of all,
who gave up His life and died for us;
but is alive and reigns with us and you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.
Amen

Worship Theme:  Being Grateful

Family Bible

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.  His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
to Him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.
who made the great lights-
His love endures forever.
the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
The moon and stars to govern the night; His love endures forever.
Psalm 136:1-9
Thou hast given so much to me,
Give me one thing more – a grateful heart;
Not thankful when it pleases me,
As if thy blessings had spare days;
But such a heart whose very pulse may be Thy praise.

Worship Theme:  Resurrection and Life

Among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man”,

dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.

His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.

 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword.

His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.

Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.

 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever!

And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Revelation 1:13-18

Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won!

Lo, Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb!

Lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom.

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of Life;

Life is nought without thee, aid us in our strife;

Make us more than conquerors through thy deathless love.

Edmund Budry (1854 – 1932), translated by Richard Hoyle (1875 – 1939)

Worship Theme:  Holy Week

"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."

When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate;

 when he suffered, he made no threats.

 Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

"He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross,

 so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;

"by his wounds you have been healed."

1 Peter 2:22-24

Dear Master,

We remember that many who claimed you as King on Palm Sunday

 shouted “Crucify” on Friday.

 So confirm our faith today that our love for you will never falter

 or turn to hatred but will remain constant now and forever.

 We offer our worship to you, Lord, with all our love.

  Amen

Worship Theme:  Special Mothers

As a mother comforts a child so will I comfort you, says the Lord.
Isaiah 66.13

Thank you, Lord, for our mothers.
We remember their loving care, and their ceaseless love for us.
May we show them by our words and our actions that we love them and care about them too.
Father, we thank you for the family of the church.
Thank you for those who are true mothers within our Christian family.
May they know your blessing and strength as they care for others.
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

God's Hand to guide me,

God's Way to lie before me,

God's Shield to shelter me,

God's Host to secure me,

Christ with me, Christ before me,

Christ behind me, Christ within me,

Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ at my right, Christ at my left,

Christ in the fort,

Christ in the chariot seat,

Christ in the poop,

Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,

Christ in every eye that sees me,

Christ in every ear that hears me.

I bind to myself today

The strong virtue of an invocation of the Trinity,

I believe the Trinity in the Unity

The Creator of the Universe.

Worship Theme:  Special Fathers

 Francesco Albani -The Baptism of Christ

A voice from heaven said,
"This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."
Matthew 3:17

Almighty God, my Eternal Father,
from the fullness of my soul I adore You.
I am deeply grateful that You have made me
in Your image and likeness,
and that You ever hold me in Your loving embrace.
Direct me to love You with all my heart,
with all my soul, and with my whole mind.
Direct me to love all Your children as I love myself.
O, my Father, my soul longs to be united to You,
and to rest in You forever.
Have the Holy Spirit touch my soul
so that I may love You as He does,
and as Your Beloved Son Jesus does.
Amen.

Worship Theme:  St. David

Dewi Sant in Welsh

 It is a favourite Welsh saying, attributed to St. David:

  "Do the little things in life."

 In the Gospel of Luke Jesus says:

"If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.

 But if you are dishonest in little things,

 you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities."

Luke 16:10

God our Father, you gave the bishop David to the Welsh Church

to uphold the faith and to be an example of Christian perfection.

 In this changing world may he help us to

 hold fast to the values which bring eternal life.

   Amen

Worship Theme:  Talents

In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.

 So if God has given you the ability to prophesy,

 speak out with as much faith as God has given you.

 If your gift is serving others, serve them well.

If you are a teacher, teach well.

  If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging.

 If it is giving, give generously.

 If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously.

 And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Romans 12:6 – 8

 God, thank you so very much for all of the talents you’ve given to me.

 Help me to know what I should be doing with each and every talent.

 Help me to not only take care of them,

but to grow and multiply them that I may share them and bless others.

~~~~~~~~
Worship Theme:  Love
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
It does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful,
and endures through every circumstance.
1 Corinthians 13:4 – 7
God, my Father,
May I love You in all things and above all things.
May I reach the joy which
You have prepared for me in Heaven.
Nothing is good that is against Your Will,
and all that is good comes from Your Hand.
Place in my heart a desire to please You
and fill my mind with thoughts of Your Love,
so that I may grow in Your Wisdom and enjoy Your Peace.
Amen.
