OFSTED news - 11 April 2014 - Rachel Dawson-Bowman

OFSTED REPORT

Following the recent inspection of our school by OFSTED, the Inspectors’ final report was sent home to parents yesterday.

We are delighted that OFSTED has judged us to be a ‘good’ school and has recognised the positive attitude and hard work of the children, staff and governors. We are also grateful of the support parents continue to give as we work in partnership with you.

Building Work Update 4th April - 04 April 2014 - Rachel Dawson-Bowman

Work continues apace on all areas of the building development. The contractors have now succeeded in surrounding us completely!
As those of you who visit daily will have seen, the walls to the hall have started to rise; the bike shed has been moved to its new home; and the block work for some of the second storey of the new classroom block has been laid.
More steel work arrives next week for the new block. Some staff had a tour of the site last week, and we are aiming to get children to visit next week.
There will be some changes to access and fencing following the Easter break, and we’ll include details of these in next week’s newsletter.

Sports Report 28th March ... - 28 March 2014 - Rachel Dawson-Bowman

Sports Report

Congratulations once again to our football team who secured an impressive  7-0 win against local rivals, Cranham Primary. The team’s dominance was best summed up by our very own goalkeeper, Tom, who said “I was frozen rigid with my feet glued to the spot as the ball very rarely came near me. I only got a touch of the ball about 3 times!”

Our netball team also put in a sterling effort this week but were unfortunately  defeated by  Oldbury Park.

We were impressed by the good sporting conduct shown by both teams. Well done to all of you.

Building Work Update 28th March - 28 March 2014 - Rachel Dawson-Bowman

Building Work Update

We now have viewing windows, much to the excitement of the children, the staff and even the OFSTED inspector! The construction company have purchased a set of hard hats and high-visibility jackets for the children - this is not because they need a larger workforce to meet the deadline but so that we can organise site visits for the children over the coming weeks. Very exciting!

Football Success! - 21 March 2014 - Rachel Dawson-Bowman

Sports Report ... - 14 March 2014 - Rachel Dawson-Bowman

Sports Report

Again, our football and netball teams have been out and about representing our school.

Our netball team did us proud in their efforts against Perdiswell Primary School this week, even though we conceded defeat with a score of 4-3.

Our football team have been in action twice since our last newsletter. In a very hard fought game, the team ground out a 1-0 victory over Oasis Academy, Warndon. The team showed plenty of character and tenacity to take the three points. Despite earning their first win of the season, the children could not carry the momentum into this week’s fixture against Northwick Manor. Sadly the 8-1 score-line did not reflect the hard work and team spirit shown by all those involved. The team will look to bounce back when they take on Cranham Primary next week.

Building Work Update ... - 07 March 2014 - Rachel Dawson-Bowman

Building Work Update...

What an exciting week it’s been! Walls on the new block are beginning to appear and the concrete pad for the hall extension has been laid. Whilst this has caused an air of excitement, it has been the machinery making all this possible that has caused the greatest excitement, especially in Early Years where children had their noses pressed against the glass as the huge tube stretched across their outdoor classroom to fill the big hole with concrete. Teachers are thinking a topic on ‘building’ may be on the cards soon!
