Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back!

We are all gearing up to the Olympics and we will be looking at the Olympic values over the next few weeks in assemblies. On Saturday 30^th June at 10am, the Olympic Torch will be passing through Tamworth if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Year 1 Phonics Screening.

Next week Mrs Sharpe will be checking all year 1 children for their phonic knowledge. This is a short check and children should not be worried or distressed about it. Results of the check will be sent to the Department for Education, but as it’s the first year, it will be interesting to see how well children get on. Parents will be informed on the results towards the end of the summer term.

Jubilee Tea Party

Despite Soggy weather, School & Friends enjoyed a highly successful tea party just before half-term. The children certainly enjoyed running stalls and creating games for everyone to play. A massive £535 was raised by children and Friends which is Fantastic. A Huge Thank You to everyone for all your support. Some children also joined the Church Garden Fete on the Saturday and again Thank you for your support.

Tesco Vouchers

All Tesco vouchers should now be in school. If you have any more please send them in on Monday 18^th June as the office will be sending them in next week.

Sending in Money to school.

There is a lot of trip, club and dinner money coming into the school office at the moment. The office would really appreciate it if all parents could send in any money in a labelled envelope with the child’s name, the amount and what it is for on it.

Hot Dinners

We have been informed that next week the hot meals will be Menu 2. Currently every morning the children are told the two options and are asked which meal they want. Please make all School Dinner cheques payable to Leicestershire County Council. Dinners are currently £1.95 per meal. Also, if your child is going to be late can you please ring the office to let them know to still order a meal for your child.

Driving / Parking on School Grounds & Walking down the main entrance

Please do not walk down the main entrance. We realise there was a couple of occasions when the gate was accidentally left locked last term for which we apologise. Also, there have been a few complaints of the amount of cars which are pulling up directly outside the school building.

Diary Dates

Monday 18^th June: Friends Meeting at 8pm in the Black Horse. Everyone is welcome. We will be planning for the Gala weekend.

Tuesday 19^th June: North West Leicestershire Girls Football Festival. 3.30pm – 5.00pm at Ivanhoe.

Wednesday 20^th June: Girls Hockey 1.30 – 4.00pm

Tuesday 19^th & Wednesday 20^th June: The first Induction afternoons for new starters in September.

Thursday 21^st June Open Consultation evening on Academy Status at 7pm. Everyone welcome.

Friday 22^nd June. Leicester University Students last day in School.

Friday 22^nd June. Key Stage 1 are going to Rosliston Forestry Centre

Monday 25^th June. Oaks visit to Houses of Parliament.

Monday 25^th June. World Sports Day.

Tuesday 26^th & Wednesday 27^th June. Induction afternoon for new starters.

Friday 29^th June. Dress rehearsal for school production.

Monday 2^nd & Tuesday 3^rd July: Year 6 Production “Fleeced”. At 7pm.

Thursday 5^th / Friday 6^th July Transition Days for year 6 children.

Thursday 5^th July Final Induction afternoon for new starters.

Friday 6^th July. Parents Assembly – Special Launch of Gala weekend.

Saturday 7^th & Sunday 8^th July. Gala Weekend. The Glee club will be performing a production on the Saturday at 11.30am.

Tuesday 10^th July: School Sports Day

Thursday 12^th July: Leavers service at Church

Friday 13^th July: School closes for the summer.
