Law lays down the duties and powers of School Governors. The Governing Body has specific duties in each of the following areas:

conduct of the School

admissions
-
reports and meetings

discipline and attendance

curriculum
-
children with special educational needs

finance
-
appointment and dismissal of staff

School premises
-
health and safety
-
appeals
The Governing Body meets at least once a term and is made up of appointed and elected Governors:

parent Governors (elected by the parents)

Local Authority appointed Governors
-
Reading Town Council appointed Governor
-
community Governors (appointed by the Governing Body)

2 elected members of staff

Headteacher
The Governing Body has formed small committees - which meet as often as required - to advise on specific areas:

Premises
We want to encourage parents to be able to involve themselves in the work of the school. Being part of the Governing Body is a very importnat way that you can be involved. when a vacancy for parents exists why not try being a governor? You can always help with a particular aspect of School.
The Governing Body will provide information to parents on its work at least once a year. |
