They eat dogs!
Print
Hello everybody,

When Trish was on holiday she went to to a country called Vietnam which is near China. Do you know where China is on the map? She liked it a lot apart from one thing which I am going to tell you about.

Lots of people there have dogs, they look after them like people do in England, the dogs are their pets. But they also do something else with dogs there. They farm them like other animals and then they eat them! There are restaurants there that just sell meals made of dog meat. They sell the dog meat in the market. They could be eating my relatives!

Trish was worried that she might have eaten a dog accidentally in a restaurant. Then she discovered that dog meat is very special and more expensive than other meat. So she probably wouldn't have eaten any by mistake.

She visited lots of interesting places. In one temple she went to, there were lots of statues. Some of the statues were of animals and two of the statues were of dog gods. In the picture you can see little bowl where people can put gifts to the god dog. There are little pots where they put sticks of incense. Can you see the pots? Do you know what incense is?

I am glad I don't live there but if I did I would rather be a god than someone's dinner!

What can you see when you look at the letters in dog and god?
Would you eat dog meat?
Do you think it is worse to eat dogs than other animals?
