Notes On Using Our Website
Some pages will not be visible unless you log in with the username and password provided by your child's class teacher.
Please bear with us while our teachers and pupils learn how to use all that the Learning Platform offers them.
If you have problems viewing any files on the site please check whether your PC has the following (free) software installed.
If after updating your PC software as below you still experience problems please feel free to e-mail our webmaster and advise her of your problems in the hope that she may be able to help.
For the best experience using this website we recommend that you use Internet Explorer 6 or later, or the latest version of the free Firefox browser, from www.mozilla.com . Other browsers may also work but we cannot help if you have problems!
You should also have your browser settings set to check for new versions of pages on every visit to the page. (In Internet Explorer click Tools/Internet Options/Settings/Every Visit to the Page.)
It will also help if you have the most recent versions of Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader installed on your computer. You can download both of these free of charge from www.adobe.com .
The website will also require Sun Java to be installed, which you can download free of charge from www.java.com .
Java is used to edit content on some pages - the first time of use you may be asked to install Ephox EditLive. The Sound Recorder facility also uses a Java program which you will be asked to install on first use.
If you use a pop-up blocker, please turn it off for www.school-portal.co.uk.
Most documents on the website will be in Microsoft Office 2003 format - Word, Powerpoint, or Excel. If you do not have Microsoft Office you can still view these documents by downloading the appropriate Viewer from the Microsoft website (Go to www.microsoft.com and search for Viewer).
At school we sometimes use the free software Microsoft Photostory 3 to create video presentations out of digital photos. We also record video footage of the children from time to time which may be uploaded to secure areas of the site. In order to view both these types of videos you will need Windows Media Player 10 or later installed on your computer, available from the Microsoft website.
Within the Parents' Section of our weblinks page you can find links to other sites with free software viewers so that you can view software our pupils use.
We are at the beginning of a learning journey with you and your children to explore how we can use the web to enhance learning, improve parental communication, and start to equip your children with the skills they will need for success in the 21st Century. Please let us know how we are doing and suggest what you would like to see on this website.
