The focus is how good health throughout life can help older men and women lead full and productive lives and be a resource for their families and communities.

 The British Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the world's largest independent humanitarian network. The first Red Cross & Red Crescent Day was held in 1948 on the 8th of May. This date coincides with the birthday of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross. Each year, the day is supported by Red Cross organizations around the world.

There aren’t many facial expressions as powerful as a smile and by looking after our teeth we can feel great, be more confident, which can lead to success and happiness. National Smile Month 2012 is all about having fun and getting people excited in their oral health. Organised by the UK’s leading oral health charity, the British Dental Health Foundation, it is the focal point for thousands of dental and health professionals to co-ordinate events and activities across the UK to improve oral health.

Walk to School is a national campaign that was launched in 1995 with a simple aim – to encourage all parents and children to make walking to school part of their daily routine. This year, we are challenging classrooms to embark upon a virtual journey from Lands End to John O'Groats as Strider's Walking Challenge.

The Diamond Jubilee marks 60 years of The Queen’s reign. The Queen came to the throne on 6th February 1952 (her Coronation took place on 2nd June 1953). The Central Weekend to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee takes place from Saturday 2 June to Tuesday 5 June 2012, with celebratory activities throughout the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth.
