Headteacher's Introduction

The choice of which school will best meet your son’s or daughter’s needs is a very important one. I am pleased to commend to you Maiden Erlegh School, which has proved itself to be a school that offers a high quality education to its students. The most recent Ofsted inspection judgement (June 2007) that we are an “outstanding school” with “an outstanding Sixth Form” provides independent verification of this. Maiden Erlegh School has also been awarded High Performing Specialist School Status in recognition of our first-class academic results. Having achieved HPSS, we were then designated a National Support School by the Government in 2008 and invited to make a contribution to school improvement at a national level.

Maiden Erlegh has an enviable 48 year tradition of outstanding academic success and provides a high quality education for 1800 students, over 420 of whom are in our thriving Sixth Form.

At Maiden Erlegh we are committed to excellence and expect the very highest standards from all our students. Our examination results and value-added scores at GCSE and A Level are consistently very high.

Maiden Erlegh is very successful because it has highly qualified and committed staff who promote achievement, enthusiastic and well-motivated students and the backing of parents who support our values and our insistence on high standards. The substantial investment in new buildings and facilities for teaching and learning in the last few years has also brought many benefits to the school.

An excellent range of extra-curricular activities is available, and every student has the opportunity to have a residential Outdoor Education experience at the school’s own Outdoor Education Centre in Wales.

Maiden Erlegh is a very popular school and is highly regarded both academically and socially. It is also a happy school with a gentle, civilised ethos. Parents know that, if they choose Maiden Erlegh, their children will be joining a secure, caring community where the staff take an interest in the well-being of each child.

I believe that Maiden Erlegh will go from strength to strength in the future and will continue to provide a stimulating environment in which our students can attain their very best.

I hope that you will choose our successful community for your child.
