People Who Inspire Us!
Who knows someone who has been the North Pole (twice!)? Who knows someone who has rowed across the Atlantic Ocean?
The children at Sedlescombe School do as they were very lucky to meet and hear from local explorer Jan Meeks.
Jan was invited into a school assembly and give talks in all classrooms explaining about her expeditions and what she has learnt thourgh doing them. This was part of our assembly theme of 'people who inspire us'. She gave some very interesting and entertaining talks to the children challenging them to be inspired and think 'why not!' when set a task. Children also learnt about the training and perseverance needed for each expedition, viewed some of the clothing and equipment used as well as enjoying a range of photographs.
The message was very clear that even if you do not reach your goals you can learn a lot on the way! SO be inspired to achieve more than you think you can and be the best that you can be!
