| Learning Support/Subject Support | | In Key Stage 4 there is a change of emphasis in the structure of Learning Support lessons. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for organising their own work and much of the support provided is on a 1:1 or small group basis. Most of the lesson time is spent working with students on their coursework, homework or revision in order to help them make the best possible progress on their GCSE or BTec courses
In order for this to work effectively, close communication is maintained with subject teachers, and student progress is carefully monitored. Development of literacy, numeracy, ICT and language skills continues in the above context.
Students opting to join the Subject Support group choose to study one fewer subject option than the full allocation, and in recent years students have produced outstanding results in their remaining 8 GCSEs or equivalent qualification.
Students are also supported within their subject lessons and in other ways, all of which are focused on the individual needs of the student.
