History
History in the National Curriculum requires children to develop a sense of identity through learning about the development of Britain, Europe and the world, and to learn about what is involved in understanding and interpreting the past. When they first arrive in school children begin to develop a sense of history by learning about the past as it affects them, including, local buildings, people, family and well known stories, myths and legends. As they progress children will begin to study particular periods of British and world history including the Ancient Greeks and Invaders and Settlers. Through these studies children will be developing their appreciation of the past and the skills needed for future study. |
