ForumsThe City of Portsmouth Boys' School Forums ("the Forums") give visitors registered to The City of Portsmouth Boys' School websites access to specialist communities to discuss, seek assistance and advice, or share ideas and best practice. As in a real community, users of the Forums are asked to respect other members.

The City of Portsmouth Boys' School has set out this Policy to help structure members' use of The City of Portsmouth Boys' School Forum. Registered forum members are asked to observe the Policy at all times.

Policy for The City of Portsmouth Boys' School Forums

By using these forums, all members of, and contributors to, the Forums agree to the terms below.

Members must not use the Forums to harass, threaten or abuse anyone, compromise their professional integrity, or otherwise behave in any way that would cause annoyance or distress to other users. In particular users of the Forums:

  • Must not transmit content and/or language that are in any way unlawful, threatening, and offensive or in breach of any obligations of confidence. This includes the use of swear words and the use of offensive nicknames.
  • Must not transmit or discuss personal details of parents, pupils or other individuals that might lead to a breach of the Data Protection Act 1998 or other data protection legislation.
  • Must not provide instructions for illegal or otherwise harmful activities.
  • Must not transmit information relating to (or include links to) pirated software and/or computer games or other counterfeit goods.
  • Must not collect and/or distribute personal data concerning other users of The City of Portsmouth Boys' School Forums or The City of Portsmouth Boys' School members without first obtaining their consent.
  • Must not impersonate another person (whether a friend, family member, colleague, pupil, Forum Administrator, or other Forum participant).
  • Must not use the Forums for the purpose of commercial gain. This includes the transmission of advertisements and any other attempts to generate business from other users of The City of Portsmouth Boys' School Forums.
  • Must not post chain letters or pyramid schemes.

Off Topic Posts

Members are asked not to act in any way that would disrupt the flow of an ongoing discussion (this is some time known as posting "Off Topic"). If a user does not wish to participate in an ongoing discussion or wish to discuss a non-related topic, they are requested to join another Forum.

Off topic posts take two general forms:

  • Posts within a discussion thread that detract from the topic being discussed.
  • Post which start a new topic that are placed in an inappropriate Forum. When determining in which forum to start a new topic, please pay close attention to the forum subject and some of the replies.

We reserve the right to relocate or remove off-topic posts.

Moderation

The City of Portsmouth Boys' School does not undertake to monitor every communication or monitor the conduct of every member of the Forum Service at all times. However, the Forums will be overseen by The City of Portsmouth Boys' School Webmaster and a number of designated Administrators who will be regularly checking content to help ensure that Forum members are adhering to the Policy.

Legalities

All members are reminded that they may be held legally accountable for what is said or done online. In particular, members may be held liable for any defamatory comments, threats and untrue statements or other illegal or fraudulent claims made by them.

Unfortunately, The City of Portsmouth Boys' School cannot guarantee the prompt editing or removal of any content, however, they will endeavour to remove any content deemed to breach this Policy as soon as possible after discovery or notification. Neither The City of Portsmouth Boys' School nor its third party contractors will be liable for the content of any material accessed via the Internet or any adverse treatment of any information placed by a member anywhere on the internet or any loss or damage that a member may suffer as a result.

The City of Portsmouth Boys' School does not endorse any opinions expressed by other members of the Forums.

The City of Portsmouth Boys' School reserves the right at its sole discretion to remove material from the Forums at any time.

The Forums mainly consist of information posted by third parties. As a result, The City of Portsmouth Boys' School accepts no liability in respect to the accuracy or truthfulness of any advice, information or data posted online or any responsibility for the consequences of a member acting in reliance on such information.

To protect other City of Portsmouth Boys' School Forum members

If members fail to observe either the above Policy of use or The City of Portsmouth Boys' School Terms & Conditions at any time, The City of Portsmouth Boys' School reserves the right to exclude the member (either temporarily or permanently) from the Forums or other restricted areas of the site accessed through registration, depending on the nature and severity of the breach.

The City of Portsmouth Boys' School reserves the right to deny access to the Forums for repeated breaches of these conditions of use or our Terms & Conditions.

The City of Portsmouth Boys' School reserves the right to change this Policy at any time and will post details of the changes online.

Members accepting this Policy agree that The City of Portsmouth Boys' School may release their information (both present and past) where The City of Portsmouth Boys' School believes that a member has breached the conditions of use or have used the Forums to commit unlawful acts. The City of Portsmouth Boys' School also reserves the right to disclose a member's personal information where required to do so by law and where The City of Portsmouth Boys' School deems it appropriate in response to complaints of a substantial nature.
