Flight in 2000! J

Airports in 2000!

Airports have become the busy harbours of the 20th century. A large airport includes much more than just a runway, control tower and departure lounge. It’s like a new kind of city, surrounded by hotels, conference centres, and cargo depots. Can't wait to find out what happens in future airports!(:

The new planes flying in and out of Airport 2000 will include bigger versions of present day aircraft such as Boeing 747.

Follow this link to see the dangers of flight in the 2000s.

On the 7th of July 2010 the worlds first to scale solar plane flew for a whole 24 hours! It stored energy from the sun during the daytime to keep going all through the night. It landed safely in Switzerland.

F-117A NighthawkThe F-117A Nighthawk is the world's first operational aircraft designed to take advantage of stealth technology. The design of the F-117A gives it exceptional combat capabilities. It is powered by two General Electric F404 turbofan engines and has quadruple redundant fly-by-wire flight controls.

B-52 Stratofortress

The B-52 is a long-range, heavy bomber that can perform a variety of missions. It can fly at high subsonic speeds at altitudes up to 50,000 feet and it is capable of carrying nuclear or conventional weapons.

F-15 Eagle

The F-15 Eagle is an extremely maneuverable, tactical fighter designed to permit the USAF to gain and maintain air superiority in aerial combat. However, some F-15s will soon be replaced by the next air-superiority fighter, the F-22 Raptor.

XB-70 Valkyrie

The XB-70 is one of the world's most exotic aircraft that was conceived for the SAC in the 1950s as a high-altitude bomber that could fly three times the speed of sound. Due to limitations on funding, only two XB-70 aircraft were built for the advanced study of aerodynamics, propulsion, and other related subjects of large supersonic aircraft.

helicopter is a type of rotorcraftin which liftand thrustare supplied by one or more engine driven rotors. In contrast with fixed-wing aircraft, this allows the helicopter to take off and land vertically, to hover, and to fly forwards, backwards and laterally. These attributes allow helicopters to be used in congested or isolated areas where fixed-wing aircraft would not be able to take off or land. The capability to efficiently hover for extended periods of time allows a helicopter to accomplish tasks that fixed-wing aircraft and other forms of vertical takeoff and landing aircraft cannot perform.

Clearly the person who wrote all that stuff above knows nothing about planes.

In 2010 they made the first flying car that can actually fly! This flying car is called Terrafugia Transition. It can fly at a speed of 115 MPH and has a 460 mile range.
Here is video of the terrafugia transition taking flight.
