Belief

I feel incredible pride going into my second year as Headteacher of Sir John Leman High School.

We have worked hard to achieve the success of recent years. The opportunities our students have – for example extensive music and drama, phenomenal sporting opportunities, the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award – are due to the incredible amount of time our staff give to the school. It is rewarding watching our students taking full advantage of these chances to succeed.

We are proud of our A level and GSCE exam results – virtually half (49.4%) of our students now achieve at least five A*-C grades, including English and Maths. To see students leaving our Sixth Form to go to the university of their choice makes all the hard work worthwhile.

We are proud of our reputation for high standards and high expectations – we believe that this is the reason for our success. We do not take a single child for granted; to see the applications for places at Sir John Leman High School growing and growing underlines our belief that parents want this too.

Sir John Leman High School was in existence when Oliver Cromwell came to power, and was almost two-hundred years old when news of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar reached these shores.

The rich history of Sir John Leman High School serves as a reminder of the huge responsibility on all of us to continue to strive to become excellent – with our great students and wonderful staff I have no doubt that we will continue to go from strength to strength.
