Headteacher's Welcome

My name is Steve Robbins and I'm Head Teacher at Thorndon Primary School, a Voluntary Controlled Church of England school.  Located in rural Suffolk, we provide inspiring education in a small, caring environment.

At present, we have fifty children in the school, which we operate in with three small groups for half of most days. For the rest of the time they are taught in two key stages.

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to visit our school before, give us a ring and arrange an appointment. Soon you can take a virtual tour of the school or meet the staff on other pages of this 'Learning Platform.'

About our school

We try to discover talent in everyone and praise effort, achievement and success on every front. We believe strongly in inclusiveness. We encourage our children to develop:

  • a sense of responsibility
  • spiritual values
  • personal moral code
  • respect for others
  • their individuality and,
  • a pride in their self and in their school

We practice an 'open door' policy and highly value parental involvement and support.

Although we're a small school, we pride ourselves in the facilities that we offer. We have 17 computers for the children to use, as well as interactive boards to make our lessons more engaging.

The children have been kind enough to write some pen portraits about the staff that work at our school. They're most insightful and certainly worthwhile the read! This will be available soon.

We also will have a page dedicated to our school governors who are important people, who support our school to no end.
