Welcome to The Stourport High School & VIth Form Centre– an academy and a National Teaching school.
The Stourport High School & VIth Form Centre opened in September 2007 as an 11 to 18 mixed comprehensive school, replacing the former 13 to 18 Stourport High School. In 2011 we were awarded status as an ‘academy’ and as a ‘National Teaching School’. Being an academy means we are an independent secondary school serving the community of Stourport - getting the most for every student is at the heart of what we do. The major change for us is that we now receive our funds directly from central government rather than from a local authority. As a teaching school we have a national reputation for outstanding quality teaching, learning and professional development which we are keen to continue to develop to make ourselves “even better” year on year. In August 2011 we celebrated our best ever results at GCSE and A level and were delighted with the progress made by the students of Stourport.
We are a high performing school with national leading edge status, serving some 1,329 students. The Department for Education and Science has recognised our specialist status as a Language College and as a Sports College.
Our key aim is to provide a caring, disciplined environment where learning can flourish and be enjoyed. We make this a reality by working very hard with parents, students, Governors and teachers to ensure that every student receives the best possible education.
