We are delighted with our recent Ofsted report with an overall judgement of 'Good'. This means that all aspects of our provision are strong. We are also thrilled that the provision for our youngest children has been judged as 'Outstanding'. Children get an excellent start to school life and the foundations for good learning are laid here. Children, staff, governors and parents can be very proud of this achievement.

Welcome to our school.  Chaddesley Corbett Endowed Primary School serves the rural community between Kidderminster and Bromsgrove. It opened in September 2007 and occupies the site of the old First School. The school has a very long history and according to records there has been a school in the village of Chaddesley Corbett as far back as 1500.

Your child’s education and well-being are central to the work of the school and we actively seek to work in partnership with parents to ensure that we achieve the best for the children in our care.

Children at Chaddesley Corbett can expect variety. We have high expectations and set high standards, but we also place a great emphasis on creativity. Part of what we mean by ‘a rich and balanced curriculum’ is that children learn how to use their skills to be creative.

The school currently occupies an attractive site next to St. Cassian’s Parish Church, and provides accommodation and facilities that reflect its history and development. We are fortunate to have our own heated and covered swimming pool amongst these facilities and all children experience swimming lessons during the school year. In the near future, we hope to occupy a new site, with state of the art facilities that will further help us further develop our vision to deliver a high class 21st Century Curriculum.

END OF YEAR TESTS

The only formal tests which children undertake are currently in Year 1 and Year 6.

Year 6 carry out tests in Reading and Maths - tests which are best known as SATs. This year, writing assessment will be based on the teacher assessmenst made throughout their time in Year 6. They may occasionally also be asked to do a Written or Science test as part of national monitoring of this subject. The results of these sit alongside Teacher Assessments based on the independent work children carry our throughout the year. These tests will take place during the week beginning 14th May 2012.

Year 1 will for the first time undergo a national Phonics Screening Test. We have been told that this will happen between 18th and 22nd June 2012

We do report how children do at the end of Year 2, but they do not sit 'tests'. They may do some tasks that help with the moderation of teacher assessments, but they are not the final judgement. Again these happen during May, but it is at the teacher's discretion.

Children in Years 3 to 5 do undertake some form of optional tests, but these are not a final judgement, and only provide a small part of the evidence that is used to inform our teacher assessments. Again these generally happen from mid-May to early June at the teacher's discretion. The work children produce independently during the year is much more important in helping assess how your child is progressing.

We do everything we can to make these periods as stress free as possible, and we appreciate your support in this.
